The Official Launch of Cancer UK-Salone
The launch of Cancer UK-Salone charity on World Cancer Day was a huge success! We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and generosity. The event was hosted by Dr. Carol Labor (mental Health expert). Statements from Dr. Innocent Nuwagira, (WHO Country Rep), Dr. Mustapha Kabbah (Deputy Chief Medical Officer representing the Minister of Health). The Charity was officially launched by Ros Cooper, OBE represented the British High Commissioner Lisa Chesney, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyer, OBE (Mayor of Freetown), Her Excellency Mrs. Musu Ruhle, Liberian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jeanne Ella Andrianambinina (CRS County Representative )Dr. Daphne Moffett, (CDC Country Director), Ms. Josephine Hazeley (Former Deputy Editor BBC)
During the event the Trustees of Cancer UK-Salone donated palliative care drugs worth over £4,000 to the palliative care team in Connaught Hospital.
Our partners present were Rev. Fr Konteh, Country (Director of Caritas Freetown) Mrs Renner Thomas (CEO Well Woman Clinic) and Dean of Faculty of Nursing Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology.
