Prostate Cancer UK working Cancer UK-Salone

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 08th August 2023
Cancer UK-Salone and Prostate Cancer UK are working together to break the silence and stigma surrounding prostate cancer within Black communities in the UK. The joint effort seeks to raise awareness, dispel myths and misconceptions and encourage early detection among Black men who face a higher risk of prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer continues to be a significant health concern, particularly among Black men who have been historically underrepresented in the discussion of this disease. Together, Cancer UK-Salone and Prostate Cancer UK are working together to bridge the gap in understanding and awareness to ensure that Black men have access to vital information about prostate cancer and understand the importance of early diagnosis.
Cancer UK-Salone will receive support from Prostate Cancer UK in the form of access to publications and virtual educational programs and training. This support will bolster the organization's efforts in Sierra Leone to increase awareness and enhance knowledge about prostate cancer among communities and healthcare providers.
Through this collaboration, Cancer UK-Salone and Prostate Cancer UK aim to save lives by empowering particularly Black men both in the UK and Sierra Leone to prioritize their health and seek necessary medical attention promptly.
